COVID-19 Update – May 17, 2020

Dear Evangel Family and Friends,

Ps 122:1, “1 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.” It has been 8 weeks (March 15) since we last met corporately at Evangel Baptist Church and I am so glad to announce that we are going to begin meeting THIS SUNDAY! This Sunday, May 17, will be Back-To-Church Sunday and we will start the process of regathering together. Amen! So the first questions are when and how?

The church staff and leadership believe that this Sunday we will begin the process by having 2 morning services: 1) 8:30am – 9:30am (last name: A-K) and 2) 10:30am – 11:30am (last name: L-Z). For example, Peggy Foster would attend FIRST service and Richard Woughter would attend the SECOND service. The front doors will be open at 8:15am for the FIRST service. Immediately after the FIRST service, we ask everyone to exit out the door closest to the piano at the front of the sanctuary. By doing so, we will maintain social distancing and not congregate in the hallway. Also, there will be NO offering taken during either service. We will have the box and the offering plates in the foyer that you can use before the FIRST service. Social distancing will be practiced in the sanctuary by sitting every other row and spreading out throughout the space. There will be NO childcare during the services and please sit with your family. We will sanitize the building between services. We trust that we will all be aware of social distancing and maintain such until this ban is lifted. It is not mandatory that you wear a mask. Thanks for your patience and for being a good neighbor.

Guidelines for Services:

  • 1st Service: 8:30-9:30, Attendees last names A-K
    • Doors open at 8:15am
    • Please exit the sanctuary out of the piano side door at the front of the sanctuary.
  • 2nd Service: 10:30-11:30am, Attendees last names L-Z
    • Doors open at 10:15am
  • Please do not congregate in foyer or sanctuary. Offering will not be taken during the service. You can give online, or put it in the offering plates or box in the foyer.
  • Please sit every other row in the sanctuary and maintain social distancing when sitting. There will be NO childcare during the services and please sit with your family.
  • We will sanitize the building between services. There is hand sanitizer available at the Welcome Center and bathrooms. It is not required to wear a mask.
  • If you have a pre-existing condition/are immunocompromised, have a fever, are sick or are feeling ill, we ask that you stay home. Services will be live streamed on our Facebook and YouTube pages.

Now that you are aware of your service time, please know that next week (May 24) we will alternate the time – so that everyone experiences the earlier and later times! 😊 See proposed schedule below.

We love each of you and are truly thrilled to be able to worship corporately together! Please be a good neighbor by NOT coming if you are sick, have a fever, have a cough, etc… Note that we are providing this opportunity for those who would like to come together but fully realize that everyone’s coming back together will be different depending upon your personal circumstances. Also, we will be streaming live on Facebook and/or YouTube for those who cannot attend the service.

As we commence with Back-To-Church Sunday, we pray that we will remember those difficult but divine commands in 1 Th 5:16-18: Be Joyful, Be Prayerful, and Be Thankful – “16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

God bless you and we look forward to literally seeing and singing with you this coming Sunday!

For His Glory,
Pastor Andy Goad
